As part of the Global Interventions at the End of Life project we’re doing research into Death Cafés.
We are interested in the Death Café movement as a cultural intervention: asking how they work, who is operating them and why, their benefits and effects, how they are changing as the interest increases, and whether it’s possible to measure their impact.
We organised our first Death Café in the nearby village of Thornhill in April 2015, with the aim of engaging with our Dumfries and Galloway community and helping local people talk about death and dying.
We also held a campfire Death Café at the Environmental Art Festival Scotland in August 2015.
